Middlesbrough made yet another signing when they signed Sam McQueen earlier this week.

Middlesbrough have made some shrewd additions to their Championship side this summer and Tony Pulis has been keen to add further signings before the closure of the loan window.

With Boro’s need for another full-back, the Championship promotion favourites acquired the services of Southampton defender Sam McQueen on a season-long loan deal.

And, in the wake of the news, Middlesbrough fans have taken to social media to comment on the 23-year-old linking up with Pulis’s side for the remainder of the Championship campaign.

McQueen is a product of the highly respected Southampton academy setup, which has brought through some top talent including Chris Baird, Leon Best and, of course Gareth Bale.

Despite his age, McQueen is more than experienced and made a senior start for his parent club in a high-pressured environment when he played in Southampton’s Europa League defeat to Inter Milan at the San Siro back in 2016.

Pulis has fielded a 3-5-2 formation this season, which features attacking full-backs, and the setup has worked well after an unbeaten start in all competitions.

McQueen will bring healthy competition for places, especially to George Friend at left-back, who has had few players battling for his place so far this term.

The Boro travel to Leeds on Friday evening, with the game at Elland Road easily their toughest task of the season so far.
