Middlesborough’s opening Championship game against Millwall highlighted the need for a couple of signings before the window slams shut this week.

Middlesborough have had an interesting summer on the transfer front, with some impressive signings arriving on Teeside, but also rumours suggesting the departure of some of their key players.
The Boro are on the hunt for another forward before the transfer window closes later this week, and with Derby reportedly set to beat Middlesborough to the signing of Martyn Waghorn, the Championship side need to act fast. And Tony Pulis’ side would do well to look no further than at Matej Vydra.
The Derby County forward has an extremely impressive record in the Championship, having played 187 games in the second tier, scoring on 65 occasions and providing 22 assists. Vydra averages a goal every 181 minutes in the Championship and has a record of 26 goals in 73 appearances for Derby.
The Czech forward’s goalscoring record doesn’t stop in the second tier either, having scored three goals for his former (then Premier League) side West Bromwich Albion, a club he joined on loan in the 2013/14 season.

Vydra didn’t feature in Derby’s match-day squad in the opening day win against Reading, and it looks as if he isn’t going to be part of new manager Frank Lampard’s plans.
