Lee Cattermole has been linked with a move away from Sunderland several occasions this summer.

Sunderland have had a major clear-out this summer, with 11 of last season’s Championship relegated squad having departed from Wearside.
Midfielder Le Cattermole is one of the remaining few long-standing players, but has also been linked with a move away from Sunderland.
However, after the 30-year-old’s performance against Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday evening, Sunderland may in fact be better off keeping their longest serving player.
Cattermole has made 205 league appearances since joining the Black Cats from Wigan Athletic back in 2009 and against the Owls the midfielder looked back to his best.
Some Sunderland fans may suggest his 65-minute stint on Thursday was something of a shop window performance, especially with the game having been on television.
However, it was evident that Cattermole still has some quality that could assist in Sunderland’s drive for promotion, with his long-range passing and well-known tackling ability on show against Jos Luhukay’s side.

Many of the Sunderland faithful would say that they want the player to move on from Wearside not because of his lack of ability, but his apparent lack of desire to play in Sunderland colours.
And understandably Cattermole’s commitment has been questioned after two horrific seasons that have resulted in back-to-back relegations.
But if manager Jack Ross can effectively manage and motivate Cattermole, Sunderland can only benefit if he stayed.
