Sunderland striker Josh Maja has netted nine goals in 12 appearances in League One.

Sunderland forward Josh Maja currently tops the scoring charts in League One with nine goals from 12 games.
The striker has been excellent all season and his emphatic form has caught the eye of three Premier League clubs according to the Chronicle.
The chance to move to a top-flight team would be undoubtedly one that would be attractive, but Maja only has to look at former teammate Joel Asoro, whose dismal start with Swansea City proves the grass isn’t always greener.
Sunderland allowed Asoro, a good friend of Maja, to move to Championship club Swansea City over the summer after an impressive season last term with the Black Cats.
But the young Swede is yet to open his account for the Welsh club and perhaps staying on Wearside would have benefited him and his development further.
Manchester City, Southampton and Tottenham are the reported clubs in pursuit of Maja’s signature, but it would be nailed on that the Lewisham-born striker wouldn’t be getting the first-team experience he is currently getting.

Despite looking impressive in front of goal this term, the Sunderland man is still very raw in certain aspects of his game, including holding the ball up and distribution to teammates.
And although the prospect of a move to a side like Manchester City seems attractive to Maja, the youngster has to look at the long-term goal and therefore it would certainly make sense to sign a new contract on Wearside.
