Lee Cattermole was linked with a move away from Sunderland on several occasions this summer.

Jack Ross has worked wonders on Wearside since becoming manager of Sunderland earlier this summer, with the Black Cats currently unbeaten in League One.
The 42-year-old has made several changes to the squad that was relegated from the Championship, with 12 shrewd additions made to Sunderland’s side for the third tier.
However, arguably the most impressive part of Ross’s tenure so far has been his decision to make Lee Cattermole a permanent fixture in midfield, and the Scotsman should be praised for that.
Cattermole was linked with a move away from Sunderland after a couple of dismal seasons with the Black Cats and back-to-back relegations from England’s top two divisions.
However, after his new manager threw him back in at the deep end in Sunderland’s first away game of the season against Luton, Cattermole flourished under the new pressure of life in League One.

All signs now point to Cattermole staying with the club he has been with since 2009, especially after his brace against AFC Wimbledon last weekend.
The 30-year-old, alongside new signing Max Power, could spearhead Sunderland’s hopes of gaining promotion back to the Championship this season.
