Jack Ross joined Sunderland from St Mirren earlier this week and the 41-year-old may be keen to sign players from his homeland.

Fans on Wearside were pleased to hear the news of a new managerial appointment last week as former St Mirren boss Jack Ross joined Sunderland on a two-year contract.
The 41-year-old was on holiday when the news he was to join the Black Cats broke and is subsequently only in his first day as manager of Sunderland.
Ross will be keen to make moves in what will be a busy few months for Sunderland on the transfer front, before they begin life in League One next term.
Talks of players such as Hibernians John McGinn have been circulating on Wearside and despite Sunderland fans eagerly awaiting news of that first summer transfer – Ross must tread carefully when searching for players North of the border.

Even though a player of McGinn’s quality would be an excellent signing for the Black Cats, there is no doubt that there is a considerable leap in class from Scottish football to the English Football League.
Notable players such as; Craig Gordon, Ian Porterfield and Dick Malone have all been succesful signings for Sunderland as players who have come from Scottish clubs, but it will be important for new boss Ross not to take the easy route and sign players who he knows all too well.

However, despite the importance of Ross not being overzealous with the Scottish market – it is still undoubtedly an advantage that the new Sunderland man has at his disposal and if used in the right way, it can be of benefit when looking for players who can guide Sunderland to promotion next season.
