Newcastle United still lack a 20-goal a season striker, but have some promising young forwards in their ranks.

Newcastle United failed to bring in a proven Premier League striker this summer, something fans on Tyneside fear could come back to haunt them. The Magpies also saw the departure of young forward Adam Armstrong after his move to Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
But after countless impressive displays, including one against rivals Sunderland, Newcastle’s Under-23 pairing Callum Roberts and Luke Charman might be the answer to Benitez’s attacking problems.
The pair scored three goals between them in the recent 5-0 win over their noisy neighbours Sunderland in Premier League 2, with Charman finding the back of the net twice and Roberts netting the second goal of the night.
Benitez’s Newcastle side have looked better organised in defence as of late, but have struggled to take their chances in their first two games of the Premier League season.
20-year-old Charman is a strong, athletic forward who could certainly cause problems in the first-team, and the player could catch the eye of the Spaniard first-team manager if he continues to deliver in front of goal.

21-year-old Roberts is a Toon youth player who has certainly excited the Newcastle faithful in recent years, and after plying his trade out on loan at Gateshead and north of the border with Kilmarnock, the South Shields-born man could be ready to take a first-team opportunity.
Newcastle fans will be keen to see their Champions League winning manager give players like Roberts and Charman a chance this season – especially after the loss of Armstrong this summer, a player who was tipped for the top on Tyneside.
