West Ham United have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market this summer and it has not gone unnoticed.
West Ham have been the talk of the transfer window so far with over £90 million spent this summer.
Hammers co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold finally look to be making good on promises to take their transfer business to the next level.
West Ham fans were sold a dream when they left their beloved Upton Park for the London Stadium two years ago.
Sullivan and Gold pledged the move to Stratford would enable the Hammers to move to the ‘next level’ and help West Ham afford and attract marquee signings.
The duo even suggested the club could compete for the Premier League and Champions League titles in the near future, as reported back in 2015 by the Daily Mail.
That may still be some way off but it seems the penny has finally dropped with the East Londoners pulling off some superb business already this summer.
West Ham have signed Ryan Fredericks and Jack Wilshere on free transfers and spent a reported £30 million on goalkeeper Lukas Fabianski and highly-rated French defender Issa Diop.
They followed that up with the £17.5 million purchase of Andriy Yarmolenko from Borussia Dortmund, the £6.5 million signing of Paragyuan defender Fabian Balbuena and the club record marquee capture of Felipe Anderson from Lazio for a reported £40 million.
West Ham’s transfer business has caught the eye and even got a mention during the BBC’s coverage of the World Cup final.
But while Hammers legend Alvin Martin has been impressed, he told talkSPORT he is not getting carried away.
“You look at West Ham’s signings and there are just attacking players,” Martin told talkSPORT.
“From that point of view it’s looking very good for us.
“I’m always careful not to get too over-excited though.
“West Ham fans want to see an improvement in the way we approach games, the way we attack games.”
