But West Ham‘s reported interest in Anderson – as reported by Sky Sports – has turned into something of a transfer saga between the Hammers and Lazio.
New reports from the likes of BBC this week suggest West Ham are looking to complete a £40 million deal soon.
The Hammers were at one stage being linked with a move for Xherdan Shaqiri after his relegation with Stoke – as reported by The Sun at the time.
Shaqiri has since been linked with Liverpool but new interest from Lazio – as reported by Calcio Mercato – could suggest Anderson is finally set for a move to East London.
Shaqiri and Anderson play in the same position on the right hand side of midfield or wide right of a three.
Calcio Mercato claims Lazio want to bring Shaqiri back to Serie A, where he once played for Inter Milan, but will need to make space for his salary.
Offloading Anderson to West Ham would give them cash to buy the forward with plenty left over to fund the wages.
