Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has moved to clarify Tony Xia’s future plans for the club after his recent statement.

Aston Villa have had their world turned upside down after failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League laid bare the club’s perilous financial situation.

According to Sky Sports Villa need to raise £40 million to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations following the play-off final defeat to Fulham.

The club reportedly faced a winding-up order via the High Court last month until they agreed a payment schedule regarding money owed to HMRC.

Fans have been left disillusioned and understandably concerned over what the future holds.

And owner Tony Xia has not held back since the playoff final defeat, releasing a series of brutally honest statements about the club’s predicament.

The latest came last week with Xia issuing a detailed 15 point statement on all club affairs, as reported by the likes of The Birmingham Mail.

That led to much conjecture and negativity amongst fans who are worried about what might happen next.

Now Steve Bruce has moved to clarify Xia’s position in an interview with Sky Sports, confirming he wants to remain at Villa Park.

“He has made it pretty clear that he wants investment,” Bruce told Sky Sports.

“I think that’s pretty clear from the letter that he has put out. I don’t think he wants to relinquish the whole control of the club.

“I think he wants to keep hold of it, so I think the whole club is looking for investment at the moment.

“If we get it great, if we don’t obviously we will carry on as best we can until the owner decides what the next step is that he is going to take.”
