West Ham United have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen star Javier Hernandez in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers endured a disappointing 2016-17 season, and for the London outfit to finish in the top 10 or break into the top seven in 2017-18, they need a proven goalscorer who can find the target on 20 or more occasions in the Premier League.
Javier Hernandez could be that striker, and it is no surprise to see the former Manchester United star on the radar of West Ham.
The 29-year-old striker scored 11 goals and provided three assists in 20 Bundesliga starts for Bayer last season, according to WhoScored.
During the 2015-16 campaign, the Mexico international scored 17 goals and created 27 chances in 28 league matches for the German club, according to Squawka.com.
Hernandez knows the Premier League inside out from his time at Manchester United, and the former Guadalajara striker would be a brilliant signing for West Ham. However, could the Hammers lose out on the star for the same reason they missed out in 2015?
It was reported that the 29-year-old was demanding as much as £100,000 per week as basic wage and wanted £90,000 for every goal he scored. Such demands saw the Hammers end their interest in the Mexican, according to the report.
Two years on, and Hernandez still seems to be demanding high wages in order to move to West Ham. According to Bleacher Report, the Bayer star wants as much as £140,000 per week as salary.
Perhaps the Hammers could pull out of the race this time as well…
