Lee Dixon has said on ITV (11:11pm, September 6, 2021) that Leeds United winger Daniel James is very quick, but the former right-back has suggested how opposition defenders can stop him.
The former Arsenal and England international right-back rates James highly and made the comments after watching the Leeds winger in action for Wales against Belarus in the 2022 World Cup qualifier yesterday.
The ITV pundit has said that the 23-year-old is a very quick and tricky player, and the former Arsenal star has suggested two ways in which opposition defenders in the Premier League can cope with him.
Dixon said about James on ITV (11:11pm, September 6, 2021): “When he runs with the ball, he is very quick.
“So, when you put your foot in and you think you have won it, he will knock it past you and because he is so quick, he then extends that.
“From a defender’s point of view, you have got to stop him getting the ball.
“That is only the real way to play against him, or you get him into an avenue where he runs towards the corner flag.”

Becoming better at Leeds Uited
James was at Manchester United before he moved to Leeds in the summer transfer window.
You do not get signed by United unless you are a quality footballer.
James is quick, and, as he showed for Wales with his assist for Gareth Bale’s third goal, he can be a handful in the opposition’s box.
Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa has improved the likes of Luke Ayling, Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips among other players, and it is safe to assume that he will do the same with James.
James has scored six goals in 50 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
