Tottenham currently sit four points ahead of sixth-placed Arsenal in third.

Former footballer Lee Dixon looks on before the Barclays Premier League match between Queens Park Rangers and Liverpool at Loftus Road on October 19, 2014 in London, England.

Lee Dixon has told ITV Sport that Arsenal are lacking the “desire, drive and determination” that Tottenham Hotspur are currently showing in the Premier League.

Tottenham sit in third place on level points with second-placed Manchester United, while Arsenal sit way down in sixth place and four points behind their north London rivals.

Spurs face Arsenal in the first north London derby of the season at the Emirates Stadium on November 18, with Spurs likely to go into the game confident of securing all three points while the Gunners are in disarray.

Former Arsenal right-back Dixon applauded Spurs for their mindset under Mauricio Pochettino, claiming that they can go into any game with the confidence that they can be victorious – something Arsenal are currently lacking.

“Have they [Arsenal] got the desire, drive, determination that Tottenham have got right now? I’d suggest they haven’t,” Dixon said.

“Tottenham are in a position where they’ve got to a stage in their development under an excellent manager in Pochettino where they feel as if they can win every single game.

“They’ve got an energy and a drive, the determination and desire, that I’d say is second to none in the league, so they’re up there with the best teams and it’s just a matter of time before they go on and challenge – seriously, they have done for the last few years but seriously – for the league title.”

Tottenham are unbeaten in their last four outings against Arsene Wenger’s side, drawing three and beating Arsenal 2-0 in April 2017 thanks to goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane.

Three points for Spurs against their bitter rivals after the international break could see them leapfrog Jose Mourinho’s United into second and close the gap to five points between themselves and Manchester City, if both Manchester clubs drop points.
