Liverpool’s Champions League hero Divock Origi speaks out about his side’s ambitions for the upcoming season.

The Belgian scored three goals in Liverpool’s last two games in the Champions League including two against Barcelona in that extraordinary night at Anfield. Origi opened up about his conversation with club legend Kenny Dalglish who emphasised about how special a second trophy would be.
“It always gives you the will to win more. I saw Sir Kenny Dalglish after the game [in Madrid] and he said the first [trophy] is nice, but the second one is even more special,” he said.
The Reds had a stellar campaign both in the Premier League as well as the Champions League but their domestic trophy drought continued despite getting as close to eventual champions Manchester City as they possibly could. Origi vowed to aim for more silverware next season but reiterated the importance of taking things game by game.
He said: “We will try to go for a second one and win as much as possible, but we need to focus game by game again, do the same as last season, try and prepare as well as possible and then in the end, hopefully, we’ll have a good result.”
The 24-year-old quashed any rumours of him leaving the club by claiming that he is excited about the upcoming season and revealed his happiness about joining his teammates again after a well-deserved break.

He said: “I think it’s always good to reset and just to relax.
“I think mentally we needed it because it was a long season, a good season. We’re recharged now and happy to be back. I am excited – I am always excited at the beginning of a new season. We came [back] with a lot of energy. The boys have already been working, I came back a couple of days after, so it’s good to join them again.”
Origi will be looking for more opportunities from the start in the Premier League next season after managing just four last campaign. His performances at the end of last term should give Jurgen Klopp some selection headache but with Roberto Firmino impressing in the recently concluded Copa America, it will be a tough battle between the duo.
