Divock Origi has shared that Jurgen Klopp told him to ‘just be Divock’ before he scored a late winner for Liverpool against Wolves on Saturday, as he told Sky Sports.

The Liverpool legend stated that Klopp also told him to just ‘play your game’ and try to ‘help the team’.

Well, Origi more than helped the team because he showcased why Liverpool are pushing for the Premier League title again this season and could end up winning the main crown in May.

This isn’t the first time Origi has scored such an important goal for the Reds, and in truth, it probably won’t be the last.

Origi is the modern-day David Fairclough, and despite the lack of starts in recent years, he is a cult figure on Merseyside.

And he was in a jovial mood after that late, late show in the Midlands, as he shared what his manager told him before he was introduced into the action.

“Just be Divock,” said Origi. “Play your game, try to contribute and, in the end, help the team.

“We needed a goal and we knew that. Defensively also we were trying to keep a clean sheet.

“We were playing against a good team, offensively and defensively. In the end, just play my game and try to help the team.”

When Liverpool last won the Premier League title, they were famous for scoring a number of late goals during that campaign.

It’s not the first time they have gone to the Midlands and left it to the death to secure all three points.

They did just that against Aston Villa when Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane came from behind to beat then-Dean Smith’s men 2-1 at Villa Park.

So, pitting their wits against Midlands-based teams is proving to be a bit special for Klopp, although no-one mention the 7-2.

Nonetheless, a certain Steven Gerrard will bring his Villa side to Anfield next week in what will be an emotional return to Merseyside for the legendary midfielder.
