Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter after their former manager Jose Mourinho was compared to Boris Johnson.
The i newspaper quoted a senior Tory MP who stated that the UK Prime Minister ‘gave us some great victories’, but like Mourinho in his ‘second season’, Johnson has ‘lost the dressing room’.
“He gave us some great victories,” the i newspaper quoted a Tory MP. “But now it feels like we’ve got a Mourinho during his second season and he’s lost the dressing room.
“The next 18 months are going to be really difficult for him and he cannot afford any more missteps. They were looking at a 2023 election – but after everything that has happened, that’s gone. It will be 2024, so he can try to show he has delivered stuff.”
You’re probably not going to hear it much, or ever again, but Mourinho being compared to Johnson is quite something.
In truth, given Mourinho’s fiery and outspoken character, he probably wouldn’t like that idea either.
Either way, Spurs fans have found the hilarious side to this so-called analogy, which is slightly wrong.
Boris Johnson is in his second year as Prime Minister, and whilst he is doing a pretty abject job – and that’s putting it lightly – Mourinho actually thrives during his second season.
It’s during the third campaign where things start to unravel for the trophy-laden coach, who is now in the colours of AS Roma, where he is hoping to turn the fortunes around of the Italian giants.
Either way, whilst many question the decline of Mourinho today, one thing that can’t be ignored is the career he has had in management.
Some would question whether Johnson has had any ‘victories’ since he has been in the hot seat at 10 Downing St and what he actually has to cheer about.
