Liverpool fans weren’t happy with Harry Kane not handing the armband to Jordan Henderson moments before the Tottenham striker was subbed on Tuesday.

England recorded a 1-1 draw against Hungary in their World Cup qualifier, with the out-of-sorts Tottenham player being replaced after 76 minutes.

When Kane was heading off the pitch, Liverpool’s hard-hitting midfielder was going to come into the fold, not for the Spurs player himself, but for Raheem Sterling.

But given that Kane was captain, he was looking around to see who to hand the captain’s armband too.

He shouted across to several players at first, it looked like he was going to give to to Sterling, but then he handed it to Mason Mount, who gave it to Kyle Walker.

Liverpool fans didn’t like the fact that Henderson wasn’t given the captain’s armband, after all, he is the skipper at club level.

There’s no doubt that Henderson has earned the right to wear that around his arm.

He played a pivotal role in Liverpool ending their 30-year wait for a top-flight title and that Champions League success in Madrid.

But it just wasn’t meant to be for the midfielder, whose game time has reduced on the international stage in recent times.

Here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to Henderson not getting the armband yesterday:
