Some Liverpool supporters on social media have been reacting after Fabrizio Romano claimed they narrowly missed out on signing Patson Daka this summer.

The Reds were linked with Daka towards the end of last season, but as we all now know, the Zambian ended up at Leicester City.

However, things could have turned out very differently.

Indeed, Romano claims that Liverpool had a plan to sign Daka, stating that if either Xherdan Shaqiri or Divock Origi could have been sold earlier in the window, the Reds would have made their move for the former RB Salzburg man.

As you can imagine, Liverpool supporters had plenty to say about this update, and it’s fair to say the Anfield faithful are far from happy with their owners.

Fans can’t believe that the owners would be so stingy as to not cough up the cash to sign the Zambian, but as Romano says, Liverpool needed to sell a player before bringing one in.

Football fans can be guilty of simplifying complex matters. This wasn’t just an issue of money, this was an issue regarding homegrown quotas, and that’s something Liverpool needed to be sure of before making any additions this summer.

Regardless, fans aren’t happy with this news, and here’s what they’ve been saying on social media…
