Even outside of Merseyside derbies, Everton winger Richarlison has a habit of winding up the Liverpool fans.

The Everton star scored the winner in Friday’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal – well, he kind of did.

Richarlison, who incurred the wrath of Liverpool supporters earlier in the campaign for a lunge on Thiago Alcantara at Goodison Park, delivered the low cross which Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno somehow diverted it into his own net last night.

It was technically an own goal, but the Everton star celebrated it like it was his.

Straight afterwards, the 23-year-old broke out into an impromptu Samba-style dance in front of an empty stand, which some Liverpool supporters have been criticising on Twitter:

Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that the Toffees attacker is entertaining nonetheless.

The audacity to celebrate the most aesthetically-unpleasing own goal of the season is why although he’s very unpopular on the red half of the Merseyside divide, fans of the Goodison Park club absolutely love him.

The win took Carlo Ancelotti’s side one point behind Liverpool in the Premier League table at the time.
