Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter in anger after seeing what Granit Xhaka told the Evening Standard following the win over Chelsea.

The Switzerland international spoke out about how he feels people started speaking about him ‘again and again’ after his red card against Burnley.

However, he feels he bounced back well in the 3-1 win over Frank Lampard’s side.

The £35 million man said: ‘There was a lot of speaking after the red card. A lot of people started speaking again… and again and again. I will always show my character.

‘I was very disappointed about my red card and I knew what I did was wrong for my side. But I am more than happy. I helped the team today and I am back.’

While there’s not too much wrong with what he said, a few Arsenal fans on Twitter really haven’t reacted well to the comments.

Some feel that Xhaka is acting egotistically by speaking about his own performance, following a series of bad displays and, of course, that red card against Burnley.

In fairness, they’re right.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder should probably try to amass a few more good displays on a consistent basis, before speaking out about how he’s responded to his critics.

There’s no denying that his display against Chelsea was excellent. Aside from his brilliant freekick, Xhaka won two tackles and three aerial duels against the Blues, according to WhoScored.

However, he needs to do this more often, rather than once every now and again.

Let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about his comments…
