Jose Mourinho might’ve thrown some shade at Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli on Thursday night.
Spurs went down 1-0 to Chelsea last night in a defeat which seriously harmed their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.
Mourinho’s side are now seven points behind Liverpool in fourth place.
It was a pretty toothless attacking display by Tottenham, who struggled in a big way without Harry Kane up front.
Speaking to media afterwards, the Portuguese coach cited injuries as a big reason for the defeat, but he also said that missing a ‘good Dele Alli’ is doing him and the Lilywhites no favours.
Alli has only managed 75 minutes of Premier League football under Mourinho this season and here’s how some fans of the North London club reacted to his comments on Twitter:
This is textbook Mourinho, singling out a player for a criticism despite the fact that he hasn’t been using him.
The veteran coach claimed that he had productive talks with Alli earlier in the week after the 24-year-old failed to secure a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day.
But you have to consider the possibility that any good that was done during that heart-to-heart has probably been cancelled out by this pretty random insult.
