Arsenal will be without the experience of David Luiz when they return to Europa League action on Thursday night.
The Gunners host Rapid Vienna in North London but Luiz will play no part in the game.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta took the veteran defender off at half-time during the defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
That decision followed a grisly clash of heads which left Raul Jimenez requiring a hospital visit, where it was later discovered that he suffered a fractured skull.
It happened five minutes into the game and debate has raged as to whether Arsenal should have allowed Luiz to reach the half-way point before removing him.
According to The Standard, he will sit out the clash this Thursday as he continues to recover from the head injury sustained against Wanderers.
And some fans of the Emirates Stadium side are furious that his absence this week may be linked to the fact he wasn’t subbed sooner last weekend.
Luiz, an £8 million signing in the summer of 2019, has a mixed reputation among Arsenal supporters due to the occasional lapse in concentration which leads to them conceding a goal.
But this issue is far more serious than football itself and hopefully for the player, he’ll be given the greenlight to return on Sunday.
If we’re honest, Arsenal’s trip to Tottenham this weekend is a much bigger game than the visit of Rapid Vienna and with their North London rivals flying right now, Arteta needs all the help he can get in central defence.
