Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter in anger after hearing what the Evening Standard have reported about four Tottenham players.

What’s the story?

Well, Giovani Lo Celso, Emerson Royal, Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez could all miss the trip to Newcastle on Sunday 17th October.

Tottenham are currently in talks with Argentina, Brazil and Colombia about releasing players early from international break.

However, Spurs are currently losing the battle, and are facing the prospect of being without the quartet on Tyneside.

Argentina, Brazil and Colombia play the last of their three World Cup qualifiers either late on the Thursday night or in the early hours of Friday morning.

As a result, the game against Newcastle on the Sunday would come too soon.

After hearing the news, Roberts was furious – you can see his tweet below.

Tottenham do not need this South American distraction

Last month, Lo Celso, Romero and Sanchez missed two games for Spurs as a result of COVID-19 implications while on international duty.

Now, they’re experiencing issues with the same crop of South American players and their respective nations, who are making life difficult.

After a torrid run of three Premier League defeats in a row before the 2-1 win over Aston Villa, this is the last thing Nuno Espirito Santo needs.

The Portuguese coach is under immense pressure, and at least deserves to have his best options available to him.

Hopefully, Tottenham can come to an agreement with the South American nations, one that keeps all parties happy.

Any more disagreements between them, and future international breaks could end up being just as problematic as bad blood remains.
