Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to aim a couple of fiery tweets in the direction of some Celtic supporters over the way they’ve treated Neil Lennon recently.
The ex-Hoops striker was referring to a banner made by the Green Brigade, a group of Bhoys supporters who have decided it’s time for Lennon to leave Celtic Park.
Their banner reads: ‘Save the ten – time to go, Neil’
In response to the Green Brigade’s message, Sutton posted the following tweets.
In fairness, it’s hard to argue with the BT Sport pundit’s defence of Lennon.
Of course, results have been far from good enough and the Bhoys are losing ground to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.
However, it would be a tremendously knee-jerk reaction emblematic of modern-day football if Lennon was to be axed by Peter Lawwell before Christmas has even passed.
It goes without saying that the ‘ten in a row’ is in jeopardy – nobody is denying that.
Having said that, Lennon has overseen numerous title wins as well as cup successes, and has as much experience and know-how to turn this around as any potential replacement for him would possess.
Hopefully, the ex-Bolton boss can turn Celtic’s season around pretty quickly.
What won’t help his ability to do so are actions like the Green Brigade’s.
