Garth Crooks has strongly criticised Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Daniel Podence on BBC Sport.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, has criticised Podence for the way he acted during Wolves’ 4-0 defeat to Burnley at home in the Premier League at the weekend.
Podence went down easily under a challenge from James Tarkowski and did not get up straightaway.
The 25-year-old winger Portugal international winger – who cost Wolves £16.6 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Olympiakos in January 2020, according to BBC Sport – remained on the ground far too long, which irked Tarkowski and there was a confrontation between the two sets of players.
Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “The way Daniel Podence remained on the ground looking for a penalty having been challenged in the Burnley area was nothing short of a disgrace.
“I’m not sure the reaction of his team-mates was much better either. If referees don’t sort out this incessant diving each time a players is touched in the box we will soon have no game at all.”

Wolverhampton Wanderers are struggling
The 4-0 defeat at home to Burnley must have come as a shock to Wolves, who do have the better team.
Nuno’s side have been disappointing this season, and the Wanderers will be keen on doing better in 2021-22.
Wolves are 12th in the Premier League table at the moment with 41 points from 33 matches and could still end up in the top half.
