After Daniel Levy decided to sack José Mourinho at Tottenham, it wasn’t long until the 59-year-old landed another job at Roma.
Spurs handed the Portuguese coach his P45 in April 19th 2021, before the Italian side announced his appointment just days later on May 4th.
Now, just like at Tottenham, things are turning sour.
What’s the story?
Well, things aren’t exactly going to plan for Mourinho in Rome.
The ex-Chelsea boss has his side sat eighth in Serie A, despite spending €103m (£86m) on new signings in his first transfer window.
Mourinho’s side are currently without a win in four games, and former Italy striker Antonio Cassano has now criticised the ex-Spurs manager.

Speaking to Tuttosport, the 39-year-old said: “Roma are doing very badly, a disaster. Mourinho is doing worse than he did at Tottenham, even from the media point of view, where he was always number one, bad. I’m not liking anything.”
Clearly, Mourinho is struggling to rediscover his old spark.
Tottenham should’ve never hired José Mourinho
It was clear that Mourinho’s powers were waning long before Levy chose him to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
Mourinho struggled in his final spell at Chelsea, as he received the sack while the Blues were languishing in 16th place in the Premier League.

At Manchester United, he won the Europa League and the Carabao Cup, although there were still many problems at Old Trafford, some caused by him and his confrontational approach towards the players.
Obviously, Mourinho’s time at Tottenham was a disaster despite an initial bright spell, and it seems his failings have followed him to Rome.
In our view, whoever hires the 2010 FIFA World Coach of the Year next should think long and hard about whether he can still deliver the goods.
