Wales fans have been left devastated by the news that Tottenham Hotspur’s Ben Davies will miss their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Davies has had to pull out of international duty, after picking up what has been described as a ‘serious’ injury.
There is some concern among Tottenham fans that their left-back, who joined in a £13 million deal (Standard), could be sidelined for a while.
But Wales supporters are really devastated by his absence, which highlights how important a player he is for his country.
Jose Mourinho praised Davies after the news came out, suggesting that he played with injury in Tottenham’s last match.
Mourinho has always spoken very positively about the former Swansea man ever since he has taken charge, and he does appear to be a player who he trusts.
His absence will be a blow to Tottenham, as it means that they will have less opportunity to rotate at full-back.
For Wales, meanwhile, it makes their task of beating Belgium look even trickier.
Wales are set to take on Roberto Martinez’s side later today, in what looks an extremely tough opening to their World Cup qualifying campaign.
