Leeds prospect failed to make the bench, but for how much longer?

Leeds United prospect Mateusz Bogusz last week celebrated a winning goal for Poland’s under-21 side.

It was his first goal at the level and came as a timely boost for a promising youngster who had begun to lose a bit of momentum.

Bogusz scored Leeds’ first goal on their tour of Australia in the summer and made a quick impact for the under-23s since signing from Ruch Chorzow in January.

Leeds included him on the bench for the first four games of the season, before giving him a start against Stoke in the EFL Cup.

Leeds lost that game and Bogusz hasn’t been seen since.

Bogusz’s strike for Poland’s under-21s might have caught Marcelo Bielsa’s attention. Or so he hoped.

Instead he was left disappointed, failing to make the bench at the weekend.

Fellow under-23 talent Robbie Gotts was selected for his weekly appearance on the bench, but Marcelo Bielsa did not call on him, and has not done so yet.

Helder Costa has been struggling in the first team as of late, and Bogusz is one option to change things up.

It will be interesting to see if Bielsa looks to the promising young Pole this evening against Preston.
