Min Woo Lee continued his huge disappointment at The Masters after a second-round 77 at Augusta National.

Lee added a round-two five-over to his six-over 78 from day one to take his total to 11-over, well below the projected cut line at the time of four-over.

The Australian was among the in-form players heading into the tournament, with a runner-up finish, a third-place finish and two top fives posted this season already.

He had made the cut in all seven of his PGA Tour starts in 2026, and finished T3 in his most recent appearance at the Texas Children’s Houston Open.

But Lee failed to take that momentum to Georgia as he endured a brutal few days, which has understandably left him feeling very disappointed.

Min Woo Lee says accuracy is his biggest takeaway from Augusta

Lee was asked after his second round what he can learn to do better at Augusta, to which he replied: “I mean, you just… it’s pretty straightforward. Just got [to] hit it straight and hit the greens.

“Don’t think I hit many greens or had… felt like I had five birdie chances throughout 36 holes, which is not that good.

“Didn’t drive it good and you needed to [do] that around here. Just give yourself chances and when I did have an iron in my hand it would not be the shot that I wanted so, yeah. Hopefully next year is better.”

And when it was suggested that his playing partner Fred Couples knows every nuance about Augusta, Lee said: “Yeah, exactly. It just shows you just need to know the course a lot.

“I mean, yes, he had a few bad holes yesterday but he was 2-under going into 15 and it felt like he did it so easy.

“He putted well and he just didn’t make a mistake and hit it right in front of him. So, yeah, it’s one of those courses.

“You got to be accurate. I think that’s the biggest takeaway. You hit it in the wrong spot and it just cost you so much.

“You don’t need to attack the course too much. Just plot along and give yourself chances.”

Former Masters champion Couples joined Lee with a 78 on day one, and followed that up with a three-over 75 on Friday to finish on nine-over.

Min Woo Lee suffers nightmare at The Masters despite ‘unbelievable’ preparation

Lee is perhaps more surprised than anyone with his nightmare performances at Augusta, which included just two birdies.

The one-time PGA Tour winner added 23 pars, nine bogeys and two double bogeys across his 36 holes at The Masters.

And it simply wasn’t good enough in his eyes, with Lee commenting: “Yeah, pretty disappointed. Making two birdies out here is pretty… not going [to] cut it. Didn’t have my best at all.

“Didn’t drive it well and didn’t approach it as good as… yeah, it was just pretty average. Onto next week.”

He added: “Yeah, I don’t know. I mean, the preparation was unbelievable. You would think I would be winning the tournament the way I was leading up to the event.

“But it’s not like I was nervous or anything. I just kept hitting the same shot which was weird.

“Yeah, it’s a little disappointing, very disappointing, thought I had, yeah, great preparation and good momentum coming into this tournament.

“Yeah, had a lot of support and had a lot of people supporting me to play well. Yeah, a little bummed that I couldn’t get anything going.”

It is indeed a big blow for Lee, who will be desperate to bounce back as soon as possible after being humbled by Augusta.

He was making his fifth start at The Masters this year, having claimed his best finish of T14 back in 2022.
