Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that he was disappointed that Harry Kane could not score against Newcastle United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Kane provided an assist, as Tottenham hammered Newcastle 5-1 at home in the Premier League this past weekend.

Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher thought that the 28-year-old England international striker was the best player on the pitch.

Tottenham boss Conte has said that he told Kane that he was disappointed that the striker could not score.

Conte told Football.London about Kane: “When the game finished I went into the pitch to thank my players and I said to Harry, ‘I am only disappointed for one thing, that you didn’t score because you played a massive game’.”

Huge praise

In our opinion, Conte’s comments on Kane say a lot about the Tottenham striker.

The Tottenham boss clearly rates the Englishman highly, and he is not shy to make that public.

Conte was a great player during his time, and he knows a quality footballer when he sees one.

Kane did not start the season well, but he is now back to his best and is also operating as a playmaker at times.

The striker dropped deep in the second half against Newcastle, and that really destroyed the Magpies’ game-plans and caused them a lot of problems.
