David Moyes has told his West Ham press conference that he is both “surprised” and “disappointed” that Chelsea have sacked Thomas Tuchel, after Chelsea suffered a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Mislav Orsic scored the only goal of the game, succumbing Chelsea to a third defeat in their opening seven games. The Blues also lost to Leeds United 3-0, and Southampton 2-1. They also failed to hold on to a win against Tottenham.
The change of ownership over the summer might have led some Chelsea fans to believe that a change of approach, in terms of managers, would come around. However, it seems Todd Boehly is just as ruthless as Roman Abramovich.
Asked about Tuchel, Moyes gave his honest verdict. He says he was “very surprised” by Chelsea’s decision and thinks German gaffer Tuchel will be back in the dugout before long – saying it is disappointing for a manager to lose his job.
“Very surprised, disappointed because I want managers to stay in their job,” Moyes said, as per Football Daily. “But we all understand it comes for us at some time. Very experienced manager. He will be out of work for too long.”

Have Chelsea gone too soon? Without a doubt. Tuchel has made a difficult start to the season. But the German has had to tend with a change of ownership, uncertainty, and then had to gel a whole host of new signings.
Yes, Boehly cannot be accused of not spending cash. But to be sacked after just seven games this season is very early, and given the work Tuchel has done – and the stature of the German himself – it is early. They should have waited.
At least, given Tuchel until the international break and then looked to find his replacement. The favourites to take over from Tuchel include Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane – who are out of work. Brighton’s Graham Potter, too.
