Paul Merson has written on SportsKeeda that opposition teams are targeting Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit believes that Salah is having a poor season.

However, Merson does not think that Liverpool should sell the 30-year-old Egypt international forward at the end of the season.

Salah scored 23 goals for Liverpool in the Premier League last season.

So far this campaign, the former Chelsea attacker has scored nine goals and given five assists in 24 league matches for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Salah has scored eight goals and provided two assists in seven UEFA Champions League games for Liverpool so far this campaign.

Paul Merson on Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah

Merson said: “As for Liverpool, Salah hasn’t been good this season after signing a new contract.”

The pundit added: “Teams are always looking to silence Salah and that puts him at a disadvantage.

“Having said that, I wouldn’t sell him at the end of the season though because unless Liverpool are sure they can get an upgrade, there is no point to it.

“But I do believe that there are plenty of players in Liverpool’s midfield who need to go.”

High standards

Yes, Mohamed Salah has not been at his best for Liverpool.

However, we have to look at the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners as a whole.

Liverpool as a team have struggled this season, and we have to consider that while looking at Salah’s form.

The Egyptian cannot do it all on his own.

However, Liverpool are starting to get some form back in the Premier League.

And Salah is scoring goals again.

We believe that the Liverpool fans should be positive about Salah, who could play a massive role for the Reds in their quest to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
