Dirk Nowitzki gave one of his most critical opinions on the Dallas Mavericks in recent memory.
The team is 14th in the Western Conference standings, with a 3–7 record.
Meanwhile, Cooper Flagg’s decision to leave Duke for the NBA is not looking great right now, especially given how poorly things have gone with Dallas so far.
Adding to their problems, Nowitzki, the greatest Maverick ever, voiced concerns about what exactly is going wrong this season.
Dirk Nowitzki says Dallas Mavericks fans are justified in feeling upset with the team after Luka Doncic trade
Nowitzki may have had enough already, and we are only ten games into the NBA season.
Speaking on the Amazon Prime NBA panel following a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, he did not hold back in criticising the team’s approach since losing Luka Doncic.
Nowitzki is particularly concerned about how the Mavericks have not addressed the void left by the Slovenian point guard.
The offense has been all over the place lately, and getting some key players back from injury cannot come soon enough.
“I feel bad for my Mavs fans. This has been a disastrous start. Obviously, there’s a hole at point guard and playmaking position. We knew that hole wasn’t filled this summer.
“There’s a hole at shot creating, at shot making. We said coming into this season that health is big for them.
“Obviously, Kyrie is out for a couple more months. But they need AD healthy, Lively healthy. Both of those guys have only been out for a while. Gafford has missed some games.
“They’re actually on pace to have a record-bad start on offense. They can’t shoot, they can’t make plays. It’s all going side-to-side, east-to-west; nobody can make shots. It’s been tough to watch.”
Mavericks on pace for a historically bad season

Nowitzki pointed out that the Mavericks have the NBA’s lowest offensive rating this season, and it is not just a rough start – they are on track to set records for all the wrong reasons.
Early on, Jason Kidd handed Flagg the keys to the offence. But that experiment quickly backfired, with the rookie struggling badly in a role he was not ready for.
Flagg’s low point came in a 2-point performance, though it would be harsh to pin Dallas’ slow start entirely on him.
Anthony Davis’ injury has only made matters worse, even if his form before going down was already raising questions among fans.
The Mavericks have plenty of problems to address, but at this point, dwelling on how they got here will not help. They need to shift their focus toward finding solutions and getting back on track.
