Kuyt played alongside Rangers manager Gerrard at Liverpool.

Dirk Kuyt has told Dutch outlet De Telegraaf that Steven Gerrard has made the right decision to take on the job at Rangers, but expects the Liverpool legend to end up at Anfield.
Gerrard, 38, has impressed in management since taking over at Ibrox, guiding Rangers to second in the Scottish Premiership and level on points with Old Firm rivals Celtic.
He has signed big-name players in the likes of Jermain Defoe, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield, beaten Brendan Rodgers’ side for the first time since Rangers returned to the top flight – and got the Gers to the Europa League group stage.
Gerrard’s former Liverpool teammate Kuyt, who is also looking to go into management, says he has spoken to Gerrard and told De Telegraaf that the Anfield legend wants to be in the dugout at his former club.
“When Steven Gerrard just became trainer at the Liverpool youth, I talked to him about the road he was going to follow,” Kuyt said. “He made a conscious choice to leave Liverpool right away.
“He wants to develop himself as a coach outside the spotlights of the Premier League. Glasgow Rangers is a big club. His dream will be to eventually become a trainer at Liverpool. In order to get there he also travels his own way.”

Jurgen Klopp remains Liverpool’s manager, and is in no way of being in danger of the sack at Anfield as the German continues to push The Reds towards the Premier League title.
Gerrard, meanwhile, watched his Rangers side beat Finnish outfit HJK Helsinki 3-2 in a friendly on Saturday in preparation for Wednesday’s return to action away at Kilmarnock. A win could see them move above Celtic.
The chances of Gerrard moving to Liverpool in the near future remain unlikely, though, as he has a contract with the Scottish giants until the summer of 2022.
