Dirk Kuyt told Deadline Day on Sky Sports that Thiago is looking ‘more confident’ after Jurgen Klopp pushed the Liverpool midfielder further up the field.

The former Anfield favourite shared that Thiago was initially ‘struggling’ in the Liverpool shirt, but in recent weeks, he is showcasing his best.

The 29-year-old has had to play in an unbalanced Liverpool team this season because of several injuries to key players, not forgetting that he also had his own lengthy spell on the sidelines.

But with the arrival of two new centre-backs, it will provide that much-needed stability within the team, as Kuyt shared his thoughts on Thiago.

“In my opinion, he is still one of the best midfielders in the world,” said Kuyt. “If you come to the Premier League then it’s something totally different.

“The tension is much higher. Physically, the players are much stronger. And you have to get used to the playing style in the Premier League.

“For me, I have watched him every game he has played. In the beginning, he was struggling a little bit in the position he was playing.

“But since Gini Wijnladum took over his position and he played a bit more up in midfield, it looks like he feels more confident. I can only say he has done very well against Spurs and West Ham.”

Well, after questions were being asked of Liverpool in recent weeks, they blitzed past West Ham over the weekend and they are now back to their best.

But an in-form and forward-thinking Brighton await Liverpool tonight, who will be looking to close the gap on the Premier League’s top-two.

The Reds are four points behind both Manchester clubs, but they have a game in hand on second-placed Manchester United, who remarkably put nine past Southampton last night.
