Technical director Sergen Yalcin is determined to bring Mohamed Elneny back to Besiktas with the midfielder facing an uncertain future at Premier League giants Arsenal, as reported by Ajansspor.
There has been a lot of claims made about Arsenal’s long-serving Egyptian in recent times. Contradictory claims at that.
Elneny’s agent insisted, back in November, that the 29-year-old had his heart set on a departure from the Emirates Stadium with his contract expiring next summer.
Speaking a few weeks later, however, his father struck a very different tone, suggesting that the former Basel ace still had a part to play under Mikel Arteta.
Elneny has featured in each of Arsenal’s last three Premier League games, after all, if only for a grand total of 15 minutes.
Then again, once Granit Xhaka returns from injury, one of Arsene Wenger’s final Arsenal signings will find himself sliding down Arteta’s pecking order once again – especially if the prancing Portugal playmaker Renato Sanches arrives from Lille in the winter window.
Will Mohamed Elneny leave Arsenal in January?
Elneny will have a decision to make, then, if Besiktas come calling next month. Would he swap a backseat role at Arsenal for a guaranteed starting berth at the Vodafone Arena?
That is a question only he can answer.

Elneny enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Besiktas in the 2019/20 season.
And, according to Ajansspor, technical director Sergen Yalcin would jump at the opportunity to join forces with the experienced midfielder once again, imploring Besiktas president Ahmed Mur Cebi to look into a potential January deal.
“I wish he hadn’t gone,” Yalcin said last year when Elneny departed the reigning Super Lig champions, via MSN.
The report adds that Yalcin is also keen to strike an agreement that would also see Cenk Tosun re-join on a permanent deal – but only if Everton’s £27 million forgotten man is available on a free transfer.
