Hannover are not expecting to lose Ron-Robert Zieler to Liverpool as the Premier League giants scour the market for goalkeepers to potentially replace Coaimhin Kelleher at Anfield.
Wolfsburg defender Micky Van de Ven is not the only Jorg Schmadtke favourite to be linked with a move to Liverpool since the Merseyside giants appointed their new sporting director last month.
Schmadtke was the brains behind the operation which saw Van de Ven move to the Bundesliga from FC Volendam. The veteran talentspotter was also the man responsible for bringing Ron-Robert Zieler to Hannover after a spell at Manchester United back in 2010.

Now 34, and enjoying his second spell at Hannover following stints at Leicester City and Stuttgart, BILD report that Zieler could be offered the chance to return to England’s North West with Liverpool potentially on the lookout for a new ‘number two’.
Adrian is expected to sign a new deal but Kelleher is considering his options; Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa among those linked with the Irish benchwarmer.
Will Liverpool sign a new goalkeeper this summer?
Zieler, however, indicated after the close of the Bundesliga.2 season that he expects to stay for at least another year at the Niedersachsenstadion.
“I’m assuming that I’ll wear the Hannover jersey again in the new season,” Zieler told BILD.
Sporting director Marcus Mann, meanwhile, appears confident about retaining the services of a goalkeeper who helped Germany win the World Cup back in 2014.
“Ron is firmly planned (to stay with) us,” Mann explains. “And that’s good.”
Is Kelleher leaving?
Kelleher admitted a few months ago that he could be tempted by a move away from Anfield. Klopp, however, will only consider selling the £25 million-rated glovesman if he receives an ‘extraordinary’ offer.
Brentford may have already removed their name from the frame after signing Mark Flekken from Freiburg.
“It’s not easy,” Republic of Ireland boss Stephen Kenny says of Kelleher. “There’s a process you go through with a club like that, I think. And it wouldn’t be a surprise for him to move in the summer.
“I think he’s ready to go and play regularly because he needs to. It’s hard to leave Liverpool, it’s such an iconic club, but he’s not so young now. He’s 24 and he needs to play and he knows that.”
