Lecce are ruling out a January departure for Patrick Dorgu despite interest from Premier League giants Manchester City and Liverpool in the Danish defender.
Is the 19-year-old rising star the natural-born left-back Manchester City have been looking for throughout the Pep Guardiola era? That question may be answered in time, but patience is required.
Patrick Dorgu, according to Lecce’s sporting director Stefano Trinchera, will not be on his way to the Etihad Stadium in January. Nor to Anfield for that matter, Liverpool also set to be brick-walled in pursuit of the Denmark U21 international.

“Dorgu is making people talk about him,” Trinchera tells Pianeta Lecce. “And, the more times goes by, the more his price-tag rises.
“In January, he will stay with us, but Dorgu is in the sights of great European clubs. I won’t talk about the valuation of a boy who is improving day by day.”
Dorgu, a potential long-term replacement for Andy Robertson at Liverpool, has been excellent since forcing his way into the Lecce XI as a teenager.
The youngster’s agent, Kingsley Ogbodo, appeared to confirm that reports of interest from Liverpool and Manchester City were on the money in discussions with Sport Italia recently.

“Not only the clubs you mentioned (Liverpool and City), but also others (are interested in Dorgu),” Ogbodo explains. “There is a lot of interest in Patrick and that doesn’t surprise me. Everyone can see his talent.
“When he has even more confidence in his abilities and has completed his growth, then we will see the results he can achieve.”
Liverpool, according to The Standard, are prioritising defensive additions in January. So much so that their 18-month pursuit of Fluminense’s seemingly Fulham-bound Andre Trindade appears to have shuddered to a halt.
Piero Hincapie of Bayer Leverkusen and Sao Paulo’s Lucas Beraldo are among the other left-footed defenders on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.
