The Manchester United ace was linked with a move to Roma on transfer deadline day.

Roma’s Director of Football Monchi claimed that Manchester United offered the Serie A side the services of Daley Blind on transfer deadline day, and explained why they chose not to take them up on their proposal, as quoted by the Sun.
The Dutchman was brought to Old Trafford from Ajax by Louis van Gaal in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be in the region of £13.8 million, but he has struggled for game-time under Jose Mourinho, making just three Premier League starts this season.

Monchi, who was appointed as Roma’s director of Football in the summer of 2017, claimed that his side were offered Blind on transfer deadline day, and explained why they decided against bringing him to Rome, as quoted by the Sun:
“Blind was offered to us and he was evaluated from both a sporting and financial point of view. However, we decided not go get him. Let’s not forget the financial stand point – otherwise, we’d sign every player in the world.”

The 27-year-old’s contract with United is set to expire in the summer of 2019, so there is a chance that Roma could go back in for him this summer in the hope of securing a cut-price deal.
One thing is for sure, Blind faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford under Mourinho, and it looks likely that he will be leaving the club before his contract expires, judging by United’s alleged efforts to move him on last month.
