Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic has labelled Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane ‘one of the best strikers in the world’ amid reports linking the Bundesliga champions with the Premier League frontman, speaking to Sky90

Who’d have imagined that a 33-year-old once relegated from England’s top flight with Stoke City would end up becoming one of the most in-form centre-forwards on the continent at a club the size and stature of Bayern Munich?

In his last seven games in all competitions, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting has scored nine goals and provided a further two assists. It’s not just the numbers either. The former PSG back-up is proving to be an integral cog in Julian Nagelsmann’s tactical blueprint; the industrial strength superglue that holds this Bayern attack together.

Then again, Choupo-Moting’s career best run of form is unlikely to keep Bayern out of the picture should Kane decide to push for a fresh start next summer, when his contract has just 12 months left to run.

There are very few footballers who would represent a genuine replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Kane, however, is undoubtedly one of those.

Could Harry Kane leave Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich?

“Of course, Kane is a player of another club,” Salihamidzic said.

The Bayern director, however, then confirmed his admiration for a man who took his tally to 11 goals in 14 Premier League games this weekend.

“I don’t want to talk about that. But I can say that Kane is one of the best strikers in the world.”

Tottenham remain fourth in the table. That is despite Sunday’s 2-1 home defeat to a Mo Salah-inspired Liverpool making it three losses in their last six domestic matches. Kane scored what turned out to be a mere consolation against Jurgen Klopp’s side, firing past Alisson Becker with a trademark low strike into the bottom corner.

The good news, on a frustrating day for Conte and co, is that Spurs have their most influential creative presence back on the pitch. Dejan Kulusevski, so badly missed during his recent injury-enforced absence, provided an assist for Kane moments after coming off the bench against Liverpool.

“The fans were happy but I was first to be happy. Kulusevski, he missed a lot (of games),” Conte tells Football London. “When a club like Tottenham loses all these important players, it’s not like the other clubs. Tottenham can’t afford to lose all these important players.

“We are managing the situation in the best possible way. We finished Champions League first (in the group).

“I think that we have to be calm and assess very well the situation of Tottenham. And see what the situation was one year ago. Otherwise, we risk losing enthusiasm and passion. There is a project. There is a vision. The club knows very well the way to try to improve. But we have to be enthusiastic, everybody. Because for me if I don’t find the passion and enthusiasm, ok, we can work.

“But for me, the passion and enthusiasm is my fuel. I need to have this. It’s very, very important for me.”
