Manchester City face some big decisions at the end of the season, with two of their key veterans set to leave the club as things stand.
City have lost three major pillars in recent memory, with Yaya Toure, Vincent Kimpany and David Silva all moving on after becoming club heroes.
Two more pillars are out of contract this summer, with Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero able to move on for free come the end of the season.
Fernandinho has been superb when called upon this season, coming into the City side with great effect in a holding midfield role.
The Brazilian is 36 in May, and City will soon have to decide whether or not to give him another extension to stay at the Etihad Stadium.
It seems that there are a couple of options for Fernandinho as he nears eight years as a City player; staying with Pep Guardiola’s men or returning to his native Brazil.
If Fernandinho does head home, then a move to Atletico Mineiro seems to be on the cards, especially after new comments from director Rodrigo Caetano.

Caetano has been quoted by O Tempo as saying that Fernandinho actually has an offer to join Guardiola’s coaching staff at City, but if he doesn’t want to do that, then a move to Atletico could materialise.
“There is a lot of talk because he is coming to the end of his contract. He is a ‘reference player’ at City – not only on, but a lot off the pitch too. I don’t know if you know, but there is even a proposal for him to join Pep (Guardiola) as an assistant.”
“But he also has a situation, it seems to me, when he returns to Brazil, if he continues playing, he would give preference to Atletico Mineiro,” he added.
