Liverpool look like they will need to reshuffle their pack up front this summer.
Indeed, Sadio Mane looks like he’s on the way out of the club, and with Mohamed Salah’s contract also expiring next year, things need to change in the attack at Anfield.
Luckily for the Reds, as ever, they’ve already identified a few targets.
One man the Merseyside club are reportedly keen on is Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, and it’s fair to say that this would be something of an exciting addition.
We’ve already seen what an attacker from the Portuguese League can do in this side – Luis Diaz has been a revelation since joining from Porto in January, and it looks as though Nunez could have a similar impact.
Indeed, Nunez has been tearing it up for Benfica over the past 12 months, and he’s even given the great Virgil van Dijk a tough time as the Dutchman recently named him as one of his toughest opponents.
What’s been said?
Van Dijk spoke to Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel about Nunez.
“There are some different types of strikers that we face that are doing very, very well in the name of Haaland and also Darwin (Nunez), it’s very similar, very direct, quick, tall, strong and it’s quite difficult to play against them,” Van Dijk said.

Potential
If Virgil van Dijk finds it difficult to defend against you, then you must be something special.
Nunez has looked like a star all season long, and now, it looks like he could be headed to Liverpool to replace Sadio Mane.
Liverpool’s contingency planning has been exceptional in recent years, with the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota all proving to be savvy signings, and while Nunez could be the most expensive of the lot, he may also end up being the best of the bunch.
