Spurs will hope to bolster Jose Mourinho’s squad ahead of the new season, and it seems that Premier League experience is key.
However, VAVEL reported last week that Spurs have decided to take a look at Dion McGhee ahead of a possible deal.
McGhee was released by Manchester United this summer, and Spurs have allegedly taken a look at him as a trialist.
The 19-year-old showed talent in the United ranks, but is now moving on to try and kickstart his senior career.
Primarily a playmaker, McGhee can also play up the left flank, and his versatility could be appealing to Mourinho, who was United boss when McGhee signed his first professional deal in 2018.
If McGhee has been on trial at Spurs, it may well have ended already as RH Elite Coaching in Manchester posted a video on Monday of McGhee training alongside ex-United teammate and fellow free agent Aidan Barlow.
McGhee showed off his free kick ability with some stunning left-footed strikes, with one coach telling him to ‘stop it’ as he buried a superb strike into the top corner of the net.
Whether it’s at Spurs or elsewhere, McGhee will hope to replicate those kind of goals in real match action, and it remains to be seen whether he can win a deal at Tottenham this summer.
