Aston Villa legend Dion Dublin has passionately urged star striker Tammy Abraham to help bring the ‘greatness’ back to the club.

The Midlands outfit, who were relegated from the Premier League in 2016, are currently sitting outside of the playoff places in the second tier of English football.

For the past three seasons, they have tried diligently to earn promotion back to the top tier, but have subsequently failed under the previous stewardships of their previous managers Roberto Di Matteo and Steve Bruce.

Nonetheless, Villa supporters will love the message Holte End favourite Dublin had for Abraham, who will be looking to hit the 20 goal mark in a claret and blue shirt.

“[I had] great times at Villa, a great club,” Dublin told Abraham on AVTV. “But I still think there’s greatness to come under your boy’s umbrella. Bring it back!”

Since moving to Villa Park in the summer, on a season-long loan deal from Premier League side Chelsea, Abraham has not looked back in terms of continuously finding the back of the net.

The 21-year-old has played 24 Championship matches, scoring 19 goals under Bruce and now Dean Smith, also netting an impressive 10 goals in his last seven home matches, according to transfermarkt.

Despite his flurry of goals, Villa are four points behind sixth-placed Bristol City as they will be hoping to claw their way up the table during the business end of the season.

Prior to their relegation three years ago, Villa had gone nearly 30 years without dropping down a division as they once were an ever-present in the Premier League.

Abraham will be hoping to try and revive those old days by continuing his scoring run, starting with his side’s home clash against third-placed Sheffield United on Friday night.
