Dion Dublin has told The Weekend Review that he would like to see how Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha would fair back to Manchester United – or at a side like Tottenham or Arsenal. Zaha scored again on Saturday.
Zaha, 29, could be off this summer with his contract about to enter the final 12 months at Selhurst Park. The Ivory Coast ace has 14 goals this season, taking his overall tally to 82 goals in 427 games for the London club.
Not only that, but Zaha has also clocked up 73 assists – making him one of Palace’s all-time great players. But his future is now in doubt and Palace have a decision to make – sell for cash this summer, or let him go on a free.
Discussing his future, Dublin said he would hate to see Zaha leave Selhurst Park but is intrigued to see how the ex-Manchester United man would do back at Old Trafford – or at a club like North London sides Arsenal or Spurs.
“I would like to see how Wilf would do somewhere else. His comfort blanket has been around him for many years. I’d hate to see him leave, but could he manage it at United, Tottenham, Arsenal? I just wonder,” Dublin said.
Dublin on Zaha: Next move – United, Arsenal, Tottenham or Palace?
Zaha is a top player, a proven Premier League player that has shown he has what it takes to play for a club fighting for the top four. But where would be best for the Ivory Coast man – who also has two England caps to his name?
A return to United might tempt him, given it has done in the past. But United are declining. Tottenham are on the way up and he might get in ahead of Dejan Kulusevski – but would Spurs risk ruining Kulusevski’s rise?
At Arsenal, he might finally get the chance to join his boyhood club. The Gunners signed Nicolas Pepe under Unai Emery instead of Zaha. But would Arsenal sign a player who is 30 in November? Palace might be his best bet.
