Liverpool got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday evening as they beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Anfield.

Their last two league outings ended in disappointment, as they lost 7-2 at Aston Villa before drawing 2-2 at Everton amid major refereeing controversy.

A 1-0 Champions League win at Ajax in midweek raised spirits, but Liverpool had to dig deep and come from behind against Sheffield United.

Fabinho’s foul on Oliver McBurnie was harshly awarded as a penalty, and Sander Berge stepped up to put the Blades into a shock lead at Anfield.

Roberto Firmino pulled Liverpool level before the break, and Diogo Jota headed home the winner in the second half to seal all three points.

Jurgen Klopp named an attacking line-up as Firmino, Jota, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah all started in the final third, and it paid dividends in the end with a vital win.

Liverpool players took to Twitter to react, with Andrew Robertson celebrating his 100th league game for the club whilst Georginio Wijnaldum, Trent Alexander-Arnold and James Milner were overjoyed with the win.

Jota admitted it was a ‘very hard’ game, but Liverpool coach John Achterberg hailed him for a ‘top performance’ as he singled out the Portuguese ace for praise.
