Liverpool have added their third signing of the summer having snapped up Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Diogo Jota.
The Reds added Thiago Alcantara on Friday, and then pressed ahead with a deal to sign Jota from Wolves.
Jurgen Klopp and co were in the market for a versatile attacker, and it’s hard to imagine anyone really fitting their needs better than Jota.
The 23-year-old has great energy and work rate, he’s quick, he can play on the left flank or up front, has experience in the Premier League and in Europe whilst still having potential to develop.
Jota has bagged 16 goals and six assists for Wolves in 67 Premier League games, and should now be the versatile attacker Liverpool needed to support Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool appear to have landed an impressive deal, with The Independent claiming that they will pay just 10% of the £45million fee over the next year.
Jota’s move was confirmed on Saturday evening, and he told Liverpool’s official website that it’s ‘unbelievable’ to have joined the ‘best team in the world’.
He added that it was ‘impossible to say no’ to Liverpool, and wants to be a ‘good option’ for them moving forward.
“It’s just a really exciting moment for me and my family,” said Jota. “All of my path since I was a kid and now, to join a club like Liverpool – the world champions – is just unbelievable. I just want to get started.”
“It is one of the best teams in the world – the best at the moment because they are world champions. When you look at the Premier League, you always see Liverpool as one of the biggest teams in the country, so it’s impossible to say no. So we just want to come [here], to give our best and hopefully I can become a good option for Liverpool in the future,” he added.
