At Liverpool, Fenway Sports Group have implemented a strict wage structure, where the Reds do not tend to offer ridiculous salaries.
At Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest earner on £510,000-a-week, whereas at Manchester City, it’s Kevin De Bruyne on £400,000-a-week.
For Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk earns more than anyone else, with the Dutchman taking home £220,000-a-week.
It is the strictness of this wage structure which may leave Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota feeling quite annoyed by what Liverpool are said to have done.
What’s the story?
Well, according to the reliable Gerard Romero – who has close ties to Barcelona – Liverpool have offered Spain international Gavi a €6m-a-year contract (£5m).
The Barcelona wonderkid becomes a free agent in June 2023, and it seems Liverpool are keen to lure him away from Xavi and the Camp Nou.
£5m-a-year equates to £96,153-a-week, which, crucially, is more than Robertson and Jota earn at Anfield – both of whom are key players.

According to Spotrac, the former Hull defender earns £50,000-a-week, whereas the Portugal international makes £90,385-a-week.
So, you can see why the pair may be quite upset by that news.
For Liverpool to offer a 17-year-old more money than two senior players seems out of character, but Romero does seem to be on the ball when it comes to updates from Barcelona.
Liverpool must up Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota salaries
Regardless of whether Gavi accepts the contract offer or not, Liverpool have to offer Robertson and Jota improved wages.

The pair are two of the best, and most reliable, performers in the entire Premier League, if not the planet.
At the time of writing, Jota has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, while Robertson has remarkably assisted 12 goals from left-back.
They are pivotal to Jürgen Klopp, and they deserve to see their salaries bumped up as a result of their fine efforts.
