Pochettino has constantly been linked with moves away from the Spurs hotseat.
Dimitar Berbatov has told Sky Sports that he believes Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino will only remain at the club if they can win a trophy under the Argentine boss.
Since joining the club in the summer of 2014, Pochettino has made Spurs a respected top-four side that have become a regular in the Champions League – combining a faith in youth with shrewd dealings in the window.
However, Spurs are yet to win a trophy under Pochettino, with the last trophy triumph coming in the form of the 2007-08 League Cup. This season, they remain in the hunt for four trophies.
Pochettino was linked to Real Madrid, again, after the sacking of Julien Lopetegui while doubts over the future of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United continues to see Pochettino linked. Berbatov discussed his future.
“They have everything the manager would want,” Berbatov said. “A great squad, great training pitch, great stadium. Maybe they are missing only silverware.
“It goes for the manager as it does for the players – they want to win something and have something to show afterwards. For Spurs to reach the heights they want to reach they need to keep Pochettino.
“Spurs need to win something in order for him to stay – it is the only thing missing. I hope he stays, everyone I speak to has only good things to say about him.”
Spurs picked up another three points on Saturday evening, as they beat Leicester City 2-0 thanks to goals from Son Heung-min and Dele Alli. It sees them sit in third place, winning 12 from 16 league games.
The north Londoners remain in the Carabao Cup, where they will meet Arsenal in the quarter-finals on December 19. Their Champions League hopes hang by a thread – with a win against Barcelona on Tuesday the only way to save their status.
