Tottenham Hotspur have received criticism from some quarters this season.
Ex-Tottenham ace Dimitar Berbatov highlighted two major problems for his former club, when speaking exclusively to Betfair, highlighting the delay in moving into their new stadium and Real Madrid’s courtship of Mauricio Pochettino as real issues.
Spurs have made their best ever start to a Premier League campaign, having taken 21 points from their first 10 league outings, but you wouldn’t know it, considering the amount of criticism that Pochettino’s men have received.
The Argentine failed to sign a single player during the summer transfer window, and it could be argued that they have regressed this season.
Perhaps a more accurate assessment, however, is that the other teams in the top six have strengthened to even higher levels.
Berbatov, who scored 46 goals for Tottenham, shared two major concerns that he has for his former club, when speaking exclusively to Betfair:
“The stadium is a big issue as are the Real Madrid rumours but the important thing is what happens on the pitch and if the team is performing well this is a reason to smile. In football sometimes things happen behind closed doors that people don’t see or don’t know about so until the moment when Pochettino says what the real problem is or even if there is a problem – or maybe he was just in a bad mood?! – we won’t know. But for now he needs to smile because the team is playing well even if they lost against Manchester City.”
Tottenham face Wolves at Molineux tomorrow, and nothing less than a win will do for Pochettino’s side, as they look to keep the pressure up on those above them in the table.
